Carrot Nutrition. In Traditional Chinese Medicine Carrot is a food with many and remarkable healing powers.

Thermically (meaning it has a heating or cooling or neutral effect on the body's temperature): It is neutral. It neither warms nor cools the body.

Carrot juice is one of my favorite vegetable juice flavors. It can be juiced by both centrifugal and gear or masticating juicers.

Another carrot nutrition fact is that the natural sugars in carrots are easily assimilated. Fresh carrot juice has a glycemic index of about 80 which is acceptable for most people with blood sugar problems.

Carrots actually help balance blood sugar.

However, when you have a blood sugar problem no matter what type, it is important to pay attention to how your body responds to carrot juice, as well as any other fruits or vegetables you may juice.

Cautions And Misunderstandings Or Myths About Carrot Nutrition



One of the myths of carrot nutrition is the following.

You may have heard of people "turning orange" from drinking carrot juice.

It is not the carrot juice that is showing through the skin but is an overflow of materials which have been clogging the liver and are being eliminated with the consumption of carrot juice.

This shows how effective carrot juice is at cleansing. This turning orange, if it happens this is a good sign that the system is getting a much needed clean-up.

When this "turning orange" happens, continue to take your carrot juice and the color will eventually fade as the cleansing progresses.

Selection, Storage And Consumption Tips:

Beyond carrot nutrition there is this.

Shorter carrots tend to be sweeter. So choose the longer ones if you prefer less sweetness.

The most nutrients are concentrated just under the skin so we advise you not to peel off the skin. To clean it, scrub the skin with a stiff vegetable brush and rinse thoroughly.

You may store carrots in a plastic bag in the vegetable crisper section of your refrigerator for up to two weeks.

The sooner you eat carrots, as with any other vegetable, the greater their nutritional value.
